Pole Buildings Cost

Overview

pole buildings cost : Overview
When you bought your first car, you learned that its cost depended on a number of factors, from its mileage, its newness, and a number of other variables. The size of your pole building---a structure that is built on poles that are set in the ground---and the amenities it contains, are a good starting point to determine cost. But just like that first car, they are only two of the many things you must take into account. Read on to find out how to estimate the cost of your new pole building.

Check Building Codes

Before you make the first call to a pole building dealer, look into the building codes in your area. Some codes prohibit you from having a pole building, at all. Then there are codes that establish the minimum distance your structure must be from your property line. Finally, some codes require inspections at various phases of construction.

DIY?

Decide whether you will build your pole building yourself or if you plan to have a contractor do the work for you. That decision has a big impact on the cost.

Customization

The cost of just the basic pole building is between $6 and $15 per square foot, but that estimate can increase dramatically if your pole building is customized. Some pole buildings cost $50 per square foot, or more, because of how much individualized work was done. A concrete floor in your pole building will also increase the cost.

Delivery

Choose a supplier for your pole building that is close to your property because many will deliver the building's components to your site free of charge. That decision alone can save you $1,000, or more.

Your Helpful Dealer

If you decide to hire a contractor to build your pole building, the dealer who sold you the structure may have a recommendation. Because so many purchasers do the same thing, the dealer may have a captive builder who can do the job for you. If the dealer does not, he will be able to put you in touch with one who has experience in this type of construction.
