Steel Shed Buildings

Overview

Steel shed buildings are economical, easy to construct, durable and versatile structures appropriate for a broad range of uses from garden storage to vehicle garaging.

Storage, Not Habitation

Sheds are not considered to be habitable buildings, so they are not subject to the same stringent safety and building codes as other structures which are meant to house people for extended periods of time.

Construction Techniques

Steel sheds are constructed of pre-painted prefabricated interlocking panels that are aligned and bolted together at regular intervals. The roof is constructed in the same method and they can rest on a foundation of concrete, wood or just a dirt or gravel floor.

Kits

There are hundreds of construction kits on the market to build steel sheds of varying shapes and sizes to suit any use. Many can even be ordered and customized to your specifications online. In addition to being cost effective, steel sheds are a durable and low maintenance storage solution because the panels have a baked on enamel finish that is hard wearing, rust proof and impervious to weather conditions.

Costs

Steel shed buildings can be purchased at a broad price range---$125 to $3,000 and up depending on size, quality and functionality.

Where to Buy

Steel sheds can be purchased at home improvement retailers online and in stores such as Home Depot, Lowe's and OSH. Steel shed kits can also be found at big box retailers such as Costco.
