Riding Lesson
Yesterday I trailered my horse to Windsor Show Stables, in Windsor Connecticut to ride with international show jumper Christine Mccrea. I’m grateful to have such a wonderful instructor and facility less then an hour away and plan on making an effort to take advantage of the opportunity as often as possible.

Yesterday, we began by working through trot and canter poles emphasizing relaxation and stretching as well as straightness. Next, Chris set up a ground pole 9ft away from a small vertical and another pole 9 ft out for us to work over. The ground poles on each side of the jump encourage my horse Vanessa to keep an even stride on the approach and landing side of the jump.

We finished over a course of jumps about 4ft high and worked on turning fairly quickly after the jumps in order to keep Vanessa looking for the next jump. I left the lesson feeling better prepared for the summer show season and eager to practice what we’d worked on.

Site Manager - Mara Hi, I'm Mara. I hold several equine business related degrees and have earned numerous national awards for riding. I've been seriously involved with horses my entire life and have ridden with many locally and nationally known horse professionals. I've also worked as a working student for hunter/jumper trainers Tammy Provost-Vitello and Wendy Newby, primarily as a rider and instructor. I've worked extensively with event, jumper and dressage trainer Jerry Schurink.

My love for horses is genuine and my desire to share that passion with others is the chief reason I'm working on this site. Be sure to check out my blog for more about my experiences with horses as well as my videos here on the site.
