Grooming for a show
With another horse show around the corner this week I did some grooming preparation. It is important that when my horses arrive at the show they look beautiful and being well groomed is a huge part of that. Although daily good grooming should be done there are a few special touch ups that need to be done before a show.

To begin with I make sure that my horse’s mane is pulled. How thin and how short your horse’s mane needs to be depends on what discipline you are showing in and whether or not you’ll be braiding so check with your trainer to make sure you get it right.

Next is clipping. While I body clip my horse a few times a year there are still areas that need to be clipped again before each show. I clip their ears, muzzle, bridle path and legs to make sure they look as trim and tidy as possible.

With this done the grooming you need to do on the day of the show should be minimal making your life less stressful!
