Farrier
My brother Eoin is a farrier in the area and works on a number of horses at my barn Sycamore Stables. While working on horse’s feet is always dangerous, the most difficult horses are always the young ones as they are less patient and don’t have as much experience getting their feet done. This time around while Eoin was working on my three year old stallion’s feet he got kicked twice, hard enough to leave two good bruises.

The most reliable solution towards making a horse more comfortable and well behaved for getting their feet done is daily work. However, sometimes other efforts need to be made as well in order to ensure the safety of everyone involved. First you can try putting a chain shank over your horse’s nose, if that fails you can try twitching your horse although this doesn’t always work well, and lastly you may have to resort to sedating your horse as a short term solution.
